I've had my dv8000 for 3+ years. I'm at 10 lines now - up from 3 a month ago. I've had other problems as well: overheating, a cracked side panel near the Digital Media reader and early battery failure.
Not to take anything away from this site as an excellent way to share our stories but I thought about also using a twitter hashtag #hpverticallines to keep an ongoing stream of attention on the problem as it surfaces and progresses for many of us. Join me in tweeting about your deteriorating display with #hpverticallines. Write Comment (0 comments) |

I have the same issue. No, issue is too soft a word. I have a !@#$%^%$# HP LCD screen FAILURE.
Yes, it began appearing after the extended warranty.

Owned computer for 14 months ( 2 months ) off warrenty and my vertical lines are the entire screen filled with light blue ones. I have had many laptops and enjoyed this dv6000 up until the faults in the design of its hardware malfunctioned. The system does not boot up as there is a hardware problem and I am only able to preform in BIOS with networking... Something a system with about 150 buck could do !
Shame on HP for this very wrong fault of theirs. Hp will not stand by their product and nor will I for life... I will tell as many people I can as I have given HP many opportunities to resolve the issue with no help at all.
I predict HP is going out of business within 3 years.
