My screen is useless

I developed the vertical line problem in August 06, one month after my warranty ended. I called HP Tech and they said it was a simple problem with my settings and then told me I needed to get it to a service center and pay out of my own pocket if the things they told me didn't work, which was obviously the case. At this point there is little of my monitor that I can see. The thin vertical lines that filled my screen continued to get worse until large white bands filled with multiple colors started taking out 2.5" sections of my screen. I have to have an external monitor hooked up to use it. Please inform me if there is a needed recall or if there is a class action.

I am relieved but also disgusted to see that so many other people are suffering the same as I am. I purchased my zd8000 back in August 2005 and for 20 months it was fine.  Then things started falling off. 1. Vertical lines started to appear from 1 green one in June 2007 and now there are 6 or 7, different colours. 2. The battery, which never lasted all that long anyway, completely stopped providing power and I have to have the 'laptop' hooked up to the power mains the whole time. 3. The keyboard. Coincidentally with the lines, the keyboard has become less and less responsive so that I end p typng setences like this with mising letters which hacks me off something proper. Well HP, after careful consideration, I have come to the conclusion that your zd8000 Pavilion is an overpriced hunk of sh*t. It's heavier and hotter than hell. The only purposeful use I can give to it now is for hurling at HP executives (if ever I have the misfortune to meet one.)
